I was just wondering if there were anyone who would be interested in writing up reviews on any tarot deck that they have worked with or own(ed) for a Tarot Deck related website that I'm thinking of doing.
What are people's favorite/preferred tarot decks? Are there any that you enjoy/like but don't "work well" with you? What deck or decks work well for you?

As those who read this a lot know, I like to get cheap Tarot books. I just purchased another book for $9.00. Does anyone know anything about this book or anything related to this book? "COMPLETE BOOK OF TAROT SPREADS" by Evelin Burger & Johannes Fiebig Sterling Publishing Co., Inc. New York ISBN-10: 0-8069-9505-X ISBN-13: 978-0-8069-9505-2
I know it's been a long time since I've posted in here. Tarot reading has been on the back burner for me, especially now that I've started my full time job. I have a few decks that either I've been looking at or seem interesting to me, and I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge/information/opinion on the following decks: [1] Tarot of the Saints Robert M. Place Saints lend themselves remarkably well to correspondences with the archetypal images of the Tarot. St. Francis, a Fool for Christ; St. Nicholas, the Miracle Worker (Magician); and St. Mary Magdalen, The First Papesse (High Priestess). Saints serve as examples of ideal behavior, values, and outlook. By nature, they are well suited to dispense insight and wisdom through the cards. In this beautiful new deck, their personalities bring life to the abstract images of the Tarot. [2] Saints Oracle Lo Scarabeo Thirty-two personalities from Christian iconography help us reflect on our everyday lives. The cards are divided into four groups of eight. One group examines emotions and how we feel about events. The second group reflects the intellect and how we process and respond to situations. The third corresponds to adversities we may face. The fourth group represents work and activities that fill our days. Use this deck for divine insight into each of these important aspects of the human experience.[3] Gummy Bear Tarot DeckThe bears cast their magic spells, wield their wands, and delight in reaching out to people through their mischievous imagery in the cards. Includes booklet of instructions. The artist is of German descent but grew up in Canada. Bittrich found inspiration in the great outdoors where he jokingly says the last of the wild Gummy Bears might still exist. He coins himself "The Gummy Bear Oracle."This looks like it could be a "Grateful Dead" type related tarot deck! *L* [4] Lord of the Rings Tarot Deck & Card Game This deck unites two great traditions: the spiritual, mystical tradition of the tarot, and the world of folklore and fantasy which J. R. R. Tolkien brought to life in his timeless works. Every card is a glimpse into Middle-earth with scenes from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit books. Instructions are included for a card game for 2 to 6 players. Ages 10 to adult.[5] Tarot of Gemstones and Crystals Deck The power of gemstones, minerals, and crystals combine with the wisdom of tarot to create a unique and sparkling deck of full-color photographs. This looks like it would be a deck for advanced readers. But it also reminds me of none other than crystalsage! :)
1. You: 8 of Swords 2. Obstacles: Strength 3. Foundation: 9 of Wands (reversed) 4. Past: The Emperor (reversed) 5. Present: Page of Pentacles 6. Future: Queen of Cups 7. Yourself: Knight of Pentacles 8. Environment:TheSun 9. HopesandFears: 3 of Swords (reversed) 10. Outcome: 5 of Cups It's interesting that there are 2 cards of every Minor Arcana suit with the exception of wands. This is also the first time I've done a reading for myself that involves reversed cards. Even more interesting is that three of the reversed cards are together. 3 court cards, 3 Marjor Arcana cards. ( The full details here. )
I was just wondering, if anyone ever noticed that there tends to be a stained glass window in an illustrated Five of Pentacles card? For me, that tends to correlate with religion in my book (probably because churches have stained glass windows). |
